Andhra Pradesh forms new Anti-Narcotics Task Force to check drug menace

Vijayawada: AP government has formed a new Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to combat ganja and drug menace in the state. It appointed inspector general Ake Ravi Krishna, a 2006 IPS officer, as the ANTF chief.

In this regard, chief secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad issued GO 1425 on Tuesday. Ravi Krishna has come to AP on deputation from the centre.

The TD-led alliance government has already announced that it aims to completely eradicate drugs from Andhra Pradesh, making it a drug-free state.

Accordingly, the police department, in coordination with state government, has unveiled a 100-day action plan to make AP a drug-free state.

Govt. cancels Haritha’s appointment as Anantapur JC

In another development, state government has cancelled appointment of D. Haritha as joint collector and additional district magistrate of Anantapur district vide GO 1426 issued on Tuesday. Haritha has been directed to report to the General Administration Department.

Cancellation of Haritha’s posting comes in the wake of TD leader Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy accusing her of committing large-scale irregularities in issuance of TDR bonds to plot owners whose lands had been taken over for road widening in Tirupati.

Haritha had been the Tirupati corporation commissioner at the time.
