Hyderabad's Fever Hospital Receives 80-100 Dog Bite Cases Daily

Hyderabad: The Fever Hospital at Nallakunta has been receiving around 80-100 animal bites cases regularly, the bulk of it being dog bite cases. CSRMO Dr A. Jayalaxmi said that the dog bite cases on an average remain 60 but on Monday, the number was unusually high.

She said that the anti-rabies vaccinations were provided to the patients.

An official from GHMC’s veterinary department said that the GHMC does not collect data of dog bite cases from primary health centres.

“Fever Hospital, being an old and reputable hospital, recieves cases from all over the state and other areas as well. Instead of going to private facilities, the patients come to the hospital to be able to afford the vaccines,” the official said.

The GHMC has written to the Director of Public Health for a more comprehensive data collection method, the official added.
