Vijayawada: Telugu Desam polling agent Namburi Seshagiri Rao filed two petitions in the Supreme Court fearing threat to his life following poll violence and the petitions are likely to come up for hearing on Monday.
In the first petition, the TD polling agent sought cancellation of AP High Court’s order providing protection from arrest to Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy as he was involved in the poll violence. In his second petition, he complained that even as there was evidence against the legislator on breaking the EVMs on the polling day at Palvai Gate polling station, the police booked the case on unidentified persons to protect the MLA and his followers.
The TD polling agent Rao who was deputed at Palvai Gate polling station in his petitions mentioned that he was attacked at the time of breaking the EVMs and said that the AP High Court without considering several issues granted anticipatory bail to the legislator and expressed concern over grant of bail in such serious offences. He alleged that the members from the Opposition parties were not in a position to freely move in the Macherla Assembly segment fearing trouble again.
