Hyderabad: BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao offered tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the statehood agitation, at the Telangana Martyrs Monument in Gun Park on Saturday. He served floral tributes to the monument and initiated the three-day statehood celebrations by the party.
The party convened a candle march from Gun Park to Telangana Martyrs Memorial Lamp on Tank Bund. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, former ministers T Harish Rao, S. Niranjan Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, MLAs P. Kaushik Reddy, Maganti Gopinath, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sudheer Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar and others participated in the rally.
Hundreds of BRS cadres accompanied them along with the playing of Telangana songs, accompanied by artists and performers. At the Memorial Lamp in front of the state secretariat, the cadre highlighted the LED candles and sang songs.
Speaking to the media, Rama Rao said “We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Telangana statehood. In memory of all the martyrs who gave their lives for the statehood of Telangana, we took a rally from Gun Park to the Martyr’s Lamp.”
He said “It is unfortunate that a person like Revanth Reddy never uttered the word ‘Jai Telangana’ after becoming the Chief Minister of the State. We will celebrate the statehood for three days and honour the martyrs of the state.”
