Lepakshi Temple Seeks UNESCO Heritage Status, Appeals to PM Modi

Anantapur: Lepakshi Temple Development Committee member L. Ramprasad and Lepakshi gram panchayat sarpanch G. Adinarayana submitted a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking that the temple town be included in the Centre’s list for Unesco world heritage status.

The representation included Deccan Chronicle clippings and sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in raising the historic status of Lepakshi. Lepakshi representatives also sought development of the temple town through the Centre’s Amrut scheme meant for improvement of spiritual centres. “At least after PM Modi’s visit, we hope there will be all round development at Lepakshi,” Ramprasad stated.
