KTR calls Congress rule full of ‘cutting’ down on welfare schemes in Telangana

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lashed out at the Congress government in Telangana, for slashing numerous welfare initiatives in its one-year rule. He said the Congress regime has either reduced or discontinued several schemes implemented during the BRS tenure, adversely impacting farmers, women, students, and marginalised communities.

“Under Congress rule, Telangana has seen nothing but cuttings and cutoffs, to deny welfare schemes benefits to people,” he said, listing a slew of affected schemes. These include loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa support, irrigation projects, KCR kits for mothers, and nutrition kits. He also criticised the non-implementation of the promised Mahalakshmi financial aid for women, pensions for martyrs’ families, and benefits for tenant farmers and SC/ST families.

Taking to X, Rama Rao reminded the Congress government that promised benefits including unemployment allowances, electric scooters for girl students, and free internet for students have also been abandoned. “Even basic amenities like 200 units of free electricity and subsidised gas cylinders are being implemented with numerous conditional rules. The Congress government has failed to deliver on its promises,” he said.

The BRS working president condemned the Congress for repainting double-bedroom houses constructed by the previous BRS government, with their party’s three colours and taking credit, instead of constructing new houses for the poor. He called on the people of Telangana to wake up to the Congress’s failures and demanded accountability for the rollback of welfare schemes.

“This government will be remembered as one of cuttings and cut offs for its conditional rules, leaving the people of Telangana to suffer,” he added.
