Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has refuted allegations of assaulting Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar during a review meeting of the erstwhile Karimnagar district. He stated that in fact, he was attacked by Congress leaders, including Minister D Sridhar Babu, MLAs Sanjay Kumar, Kavvampally Satyanarayana, and Makkan Singh Raj Thakur.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Kaushik Reddy said Sanjay Kumar provoked the incident by making derogatory comments about the BRS. “Sanjay sat next to me and taunted, ‘Now see how I will strip off your BRS leaders’ clothes,’ before pushing me,” he said.
He criticised the Congress government for targeting BRS leaders with false cases and demanded the disqualification of MLAs who defected from the BRS. He termed Sanjay Kumar as a “broker and thief” who owed his electoral victory to BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao and not his own capabilities.
The Huzurabad MLA expressed outrage over the Congress’s failure to fulfill promises like the crop loan waiver in his constituency and said he was being silenced for questioning the government. “Revanth Reddy’s government filed 28 false cases against me for raising public issues. They have imposed the PD Act on me for merely asking questions,” he said.
Kaushik Reddy warned that continued attacks on BRS leaders would lead to counter-attacks on Congress offices, adding, “If they attack us, we will respond in kind.” He criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as a “blackmailer, cheater, and broker” and accused him of exploiting power for political vendetta.
“Revanth Reddy had earlier asked people to pelt stones at defected MLAs and I intend to follow his footsteps. I urge the BRS leaders to confront the turncoat MLAs during their visits in the respective constituencies. Unless the Congress stops attacking the BRS leaders, we will not let them freely on the roads,” he warned.
