Revanth Reddy urges Modi to sanction Regional Rail Ring project akin to RRR Telangana

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction Regional Rail Ring project akin to Regional Ring Road for the overall development of the State. The Centre has sanctioned a 370-km Regional Ring Road and tenders for constructing 170-km road was called for. Speaking during the inauguration of Cherlapalli new railway terminal, he said 60 per cent of Telangana would become urbanized if the Regional Rail Ring Project was taken up. Listing out various projects and sanctions required for the development of Telangana, he brought to the notice of Modi about the integrated railway coach factory in Kazipet. Thanking Modi for inaugurating the Cherlapalli terminal, he urged him to sanction a dedicated railway line connecting the proposed dry port to give boost to industrial park especially automobile industry and added that Telangana has become a hub for pharma industry.
Revanth Reddy said South Korea was evincing interest for expanding operations related to electric vehicles in the State. Keeping in view the interests of Telangana, the Centre must sanction a dedicated railway line, he urged. Referring to the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, he said that Hyderabad has the largest metro rail network after Delhi. However, the approval for the second phase is pending with the Centre. With no network expansion over the past decade, Hyderabad has slipped in metro rankings and risks falling further behind other metro cities.
Revanth Reddy also requested the Prime Minister to sanction Vikarabad-Krishna railway line to meet the area’s transportation needs. Stating that the new railway lines would be essential for the region’s development, he said Telangana would contribute $1 trillion for the Centre’s roadmap for making India a $5 trillion economy. This would be possible only if the government accords sanction for the projects related to the State, he added.
