Nirmal: A farmer who gave a lift to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on his tractor to help him cross agricultural fields earlier, has now appealed to the Chief Minister to waive the crop loan of his mother. His appeal in a video is going viral on social media platforms.
The farmer, Firagi hailing from Labdhi village near Basar spoke in Hindi recalling how he had helped Reddy to enter Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)-Basar from its rear side, when students were staging a protest, by offering him to drive on his tractor way back in 2022.
“I helped you in reaching the university from the borders of the district in the past. Please help me now by waiving the crop loan of Rs 2.25 lakh taken by my mother Jija Bai in 2023. Manager of the bank is denying a fresh loan citing the arrears. Officials are dilly-dallying the waiving of the loan,” he appealed to Revanth Reddy.
Reddy was arrested after entering the campus on June 17 in 2022. He was attempting to express solidarity to students who were boycotting classes to demand that the government address their challenges such as appointment of full-fledged vice-chancellor, poor maintenance of the institution, hostels and library, provision of cots, uniforms, laptops and drinking water.
