BRS president KCR will be back in action from next year, reveals KTR

Hyderabad: BRS supremo and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has been staying away from media glare following his surgery last year, will be back in action from next year. The party working president, KT Rama Rao, revealed that the BRS chief wanted to give a year to the ruling Congress to settle down and fulfil its promises.

“He is perfectly fine and very healthy. He has been guiding all of us every day. As a responsible opposition leader, he is giving the government enough time to deliver on their ‘420’ promises. You will probably see a lot more of him in 2025 and beyond,” Rama Rao said, during a #AskKTR question and answer session on social media platform X on Thursday.

Amid Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy claiming to erase Chandrashekhar Rao from Telangana, the BRS working president went on to reiterate that as long as Telangana remained, the legend named K Chandrashekhar Rao will live on.

Stating that the current politics lacked ethics, he found it difficult to understand why families are dragged into politics of vendetta. “In the last 18 years of being in public life, when my family and kids were humiliated, thought many times of quitting politics, but decided to stay and fight,” he said, adding that he never targeted families of opponents when the BRS was in power.

Responding to netizens, the BRS working president listed out numerous factors for the BRS defeat in the elections. He felt that the BRS failed in terms of perception management and people management (cadre and leadership), besides failing to communicate the development and welfare achieved during the BRS regime to people effectively. General fatigue and anti-incumbency after two terms, apart from a vertical polarisation between NDA and I.N.D.I.A camps led by the BRS loss.

“On top of that, Congress, through its false promises, created a false hope which was key. People in districts believed Congress party’s fake promises and propaganda,” he said. Rama Rao felt that it is not completely fair to hold MLAs responsible for BRS defeat in elections.

However, Rama Rao vowed to fight the Congress until it delivers all its promises, including Six Guarantees, to the people of Telangana and make it accountable for its actions. He urged people to continue their support and strengthen the BRS, to enable it to fight on their behalf on issues of farmers, unemployed, job aspirants, government employees and other sections of the society.

“We will lead the way to hold them accountable both in Assembly and outside in the people’s court,” he said. Rama Rao exuded confidence that the BRS would make a strong comeback, despite some elected representatives and leaders deserting the party.

He stated that the current crisis presents the biggest opportunity for the party to groom loyal and effective new age leadership. “It’s the people that make the leaders, not the other way around. Wait and watch for our strong comeback,” he said. Rama Rao asserted that by-elections are inevitable in 10 constituencies where BRS MLAs defected to the ruling Congress.

When asked about the BRS plans to contest in Maharashtra Assembly elections, Rama Rao made it clear that the party was focusing more on Telangana. Had won the Telangana Assembly polls, he said the story would have been different in Parliament elections and Maharashtra as well. He suggested the people of Maharashtra not to trust both BJP and Congress, and instead, choose from one of the regional parties.
