Hyderabad: Hyderabad is abuzz with preparations for a grand Ganesh idol immersion, set to take place on September 17. While the city eagerly awaits the main event, many devotees have already begun immersing their idols, with smaller processions filling the streets over the past few days.
Water bodies such as Hussain Sagar, Safilguda, Saroornagar, NTR Ghat, Sunnam Cheruvu, IDL, and Kapra have seen an uptick in immersion activities, as families and communities bid farewell to Lord Ganesha.
The civic body and police have said all needed arrangements were being made at the immersion points and also along the route the idol immersion processions are taken out. From filling potholes, removing trees and wires along major roads, and providing baby ponds and portable ponds for immersion in nearby locations, were in place, authorities said.
Cranes and specialized vehicles have been stationed at Hussain Sagar and other water bodies which receive bigger idols.
To ensure a smooth celebration, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have mapped out diversions, preparing the city for the rush of devotees. Major roads are expected to witness a flurry of activity as families gather to bid adieu to their beloved Ganesha.
